Hey, I’m Andi!

I’m a bestselling (New York Times Graphic Novels Top 10, Publisher’s Weekly Children’s Frontlist, Amazon #1, and B&N Booksellers’ Favorite) & award-winning (MoCCA Fest Award of Excellence & M. Prize) YA & horror-comedy cartoonist & writer who makes funny jokes and makes you sad at the same time, like a sandwich made of real human tears! I grew up in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and the Southwestern US (and lived most of my adult life in Los Angeles & Vermont). I have a graduate degree in Comics from the Center for Cartoon Studies (class of ‘18!), a couple fellowships/residencies under my belt (SAW Teaching Artist in Residence Sept-Oct 2021, Cape Cod National Seashore C-Scape Fellowship Resident in Provincetown 2017, DiNK Denver Independent Comics Expo Fellowship 2016), and have comics in books from Scholastic Graphix, Mad Cave, T.O. Comix, on The Nib, and tons more!

My absolute fave genres to write/draw are horror, horror-comedy, and teen dramedy. I also like analog inking, King of the Hill, single-player RPGs, and all kinds of dumb goth stuff!

Fig A: My face!

You might know me from my (award winning!) video game, SLASHER U: An 18+ Horror Movie Dating Sim, my (critically acclaimed!) webcomic Trans Man Walking, drawing for the Five Nights at Freddy’s: Fazbear Frights graphic novel series, and/or enthusiastically talking about cartoons and ska music at barcon at 2AM. I currently live in Vermont!

Fun Facts About Me!

  • I collect leatherbound occult books, a dream of mine since I was a little kid

  • I once tried out for MasterChef and actually made it to the Top 100, only to be immediately kicked off on Day 3

  • I have played over 1,000 hours of Fallout 3 and I’m not sorry. This used to say “600 hours” but turns out I’m much more far gone than I initially feared.

  • My first mosh pit injury was a broken glasses/busted nose situation at age 13 at a Franz Ferdinand show (who knew you could mosh to Franz Ferdinand?)

  • I dropped out of USC School of Cinematic Arts to go work in the games industry, which sounds nuts, but then I left game dev to get a graduate degree in comics from the Center for Cartoon Studies and draw comics forever, which might be even more nuts. I worked on Where Cards Fall, ChronoScouts, Mytheon, Panzer General: Allied Assault, and more! (Plus I used to be a QA peon as a summer job back in high school. Hi, everyone at Petroglyph!)
